Non-woven weed control fabric is the tool that ends the fight, and it is the choice of most modern growers for five clear reasons.
Why non-woven? The five reasons that matter
1. It breathes — and that protects the crop.
Non-woven fabric is water-permeable and breathable. Rain and irrigation pass through to the soil, and roots never suffocate under a sealed barrier. In wet climates this also cuts disease pressure — a closed barrier traps moisture against the root zone; a breathable one doesn't.
2. It can be biodegradable.
Made from PLA and starch-based polymers, biodegradable non-woven fabric does its job for the season, then breaks down in 12-24 months and is tilled into the soil. No end-of-season removal, no plastic litter, and compliance with organic and EU retail programs. This is the option no other weed control method offers.
3. It is light and fast to install.
One worker can lay and pin a bed in minutes — no machinery, no heavy rolls. The lighter weight also cuts shipping costs, which matters on every container.
4. It suppresses weeds and holds moisture.
Blocked light stops weed germination along the entire row, while the fabric reduces evaporation so soil stays moist longer — fewer irrigation cycles, steadier growth.
5. It changes the cost structure.
Replace repeated hand-weeding labor and herbicide applications with one installation. Most growers find non-woven weed control pays for itself in 1-2 seasons.
A note on woven fabric — and why we don't sell it
You may see woven (PP woven) weed control fabric on the market, usually promoted for high-traffic, multi-year installations. We make an honest point here: our line is non-woven only, for a simple reason. Woven fabric is heavier, rarely biodegradable, and must be pulled up and disposed of manually at end of life — labor and waste that most growers are trying to get away from. For the vegetable beds, nurseries and rotational fields most growers run, non-woven with a biodegradable option delivers the results with a clean end-of-life. If your operation genuinely needs multi-year, machinery-heavy fabric, we will tell you so — and recommend the right product, even if it isn't ours.

Installation in four steps
- Clear and level the bed — flat fabric sits tight; bumps become weed channels
- Lay the fabric with 10-15 cm overlaps, textured side up
- Pin every 1-2 m with fixing pins, plus every overlap point — this step decides success
- Cut planting holes sized to the root ball, lay drip line under the fabric first if you use irrigation
